Built by People. Powered by AI.
Five spots that prove a simple point: tools don’t create point of view. People do.
Every once in a while, marketing hits a shift so big that the tools start stealing the spotlight. That’s happening right now with AI.
There are more platforms, plugins, generators and “instant solutions” than anyone can keep up with. Which is exactly why Gunn Jerkens has to do what we have always done: cut through the noise, figure out what matters and help our clients use what’s next in a way that is smart, strategic and unmistakably human.
This isn’t new for us. In the early 2000s, we helped introduce social media into new home marketing before it was standard, before it was a line item and before most people believed it could drive measurable results. We pushed, tested, learned, refined and helped bring a new channel into the real world of sales and marketing.
Why we made these spots
We built a short series of commercial spots using AI video tools from concept through production. Not as a gimmick. As a statement of intent.
“This started with curiosity. If AI is going to be part of the future of marketing, it has to be understood hands-on, in the context of real work,” said Kevin Jerkens, EVP at Gunn Jerkens. “That’s the entrepreneurial instinct that’s so inherent here at Gunn Jerkens: stay curious, adapt and translate new capabilities into something useful for our clients. It’s our responsibility.”

The Mandate
The Meadows
We wanted these spots to poke at a few familiar industry habits: rubber stamps, performative personalization and dartboard targeting. They’re funny because they’re true. And they reinforce something simple: tools can generate content, but they can’t generate judgment. That part still belongs to people.
What “Powered by AI” actually takes
If you’re picturing a one-and-done prompt and a finished commercial, you’re giving AI way too much credit.
The real work was human work:
- Finding an angle that says something, not just something that looks cool.
- Writing with restraint and timing so the humor lands.
- Prompting toward consistent characters, scenes and voice.
- Iterating through the weird, the close-but-not-quite and the “almost.”
- Editing, stitching, refining and polishing until it flowed like a real spot.
AI accelerated exploration. It expanded what was possible in a short window. It helped us move faster. But the spots only work because a few smart people cared about the details. The craft. The rhythm. The point.

What this says about how we operate
We believe it’s our responsibility to stay on the front edge of the tools shaping marketing, especially in categories like homebuilding where innovation tends to arrive late and sameness arrives early.
That doesn’t mean chasing every new platform. It means building a repeatable, disciplined way to test what’s emerging and translate it into work that performs. These spots are one example of that mindset in motion. A small series, built quickly, with a clear point of view: AI is powerful, but it’s not the creative director, strategist or tastemaker.
“AI is already touching every discipline at Gunn Jerkens: copywriting, design, web, social, video, digital marketing, data and media,” said Jerkens. “If our team is the best at what they do, they deserve a clear vision, the right tools and the trust to explore what’s next, responsibly… plus, Gunn Jerkens is never boring. Never complacent.”
Simply put: AI is a power tool. But it’s the people behind it that make it matter.
