Reimagining of the Port: Seaport San Diego

Congratulations to the Protea Waterfront Development team and all of their partners on this monumental achievement — winning near unanimous support yesterday of their visionary plan for Seaport San Diego. The entire GJ team is celebrating this accomplishment, as we were honored to collaborate with the Protea team on web design and programming for Seaport.

The $1.2 billion project is set to replace Seaport Village and will feature three new hotels, close to 400,000 sq. ft. of restaurant and retail space and two cool attractions – an approximate 500-foot spire observation tower and OdySea aquarium.

The commission gave praise to the Protea team for meticulously following the vision and principles of the port’s future. A few of the goals of Seaport San Diego are to provide easy mobility on land and water, possess exceptional amenities, celebrate nature and ecology and create remarkable open space in this world-class city.

This unique and fresh reimagining is more than just structures, it’s a revitalization plan that will offer programs and activities and keep the attractiveness and energy of the area going – and it will be a destination that brings life to the San Diego waterfront. This sought-after experience will attract both residents and visitors from the U.S. and all over the globe.

Stay tuned for more news on Seaport San Diego and take a look at this article about the project from the San Diego Tribune.
